Village"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It had been a while since we had been to Steveston.\u00c2\u00a0 On a beautiful, sunny winter day, Pete and I decided to go for a nice walk to stretch our legs and to work off some excess Christmas calories.\u00c2\u00a0 Steveston was the perfect choice for our walk.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vancouverdatenight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/fishing-village.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"fishing boats\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vancouverdatenight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/fishing-village-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fishing boats!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We took our dog and walked a nice loop around <a href=\"http:\/\/www.richmond.ca\/parksrec\/ptc\/trails\/exploring\/garrypoint.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Garry Point Park<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 It was quite cold and windy, but it allowed us to watch some brave folks try to paraglide.\u00c2\u00a0 The scenery in Steveston is just fantastic \u00e2\u20ac\u201c fishing boats, the water, the heritage buildings \u00e2\u20ac\u201c it is quaint and relaxing.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After our\u00c2\u00a0stroll around the park, we wandered the short distance to the village itself.\u00c2\u00a0 We passed the <a href=\"http:\/\/gulfofgeorgiacannery.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gulf of Georgia Cannery<\/a>, which is an interesting museum about what life<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_60\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vancouverdatenight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/cannery.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-60\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-60\" title=\"cannery\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vancouverdatenight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/cannery-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-60\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Gulf of Georgia Cannery Museum<\/p><\/div>\n<p>was like for the people who lived and worked at the cannery so many years ago.\u00c2\u00a0 Admission is cheap ($7-ish) and is worth a walk through if you have the time and the\u00c2\u00a0interest.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We continued along the boardwalk and passed even more fishing boats (they can be a great place to buy fresh fish when it is in season).\u00c2\u00a0 There are plenty of restaurants in the Village core but this was a walking and not an eating date, so we kept on going.\u00c2\u00a0 We did stop and grab a coffee at one of the many coffee shops(seriously\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6there are a lot of coffee shops\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6the people here must never sleep) and kept on strolling.\u00c2\u00a0 You can walk or bike forever on the boardwalk.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_62\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a id=\"caption-attachment-62\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">View of the Village core<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The actual path goes for miles along the Fraser River and it is completely flat so it is very easy walking or bike riding.\u00c2\u00a0 The views are wonderful.\u00c2\u00a0 We found Steveston Village to be a a great place to spend some time.\u00c2\u00a0 We will be back soon.<\/p>\n<p><a
